I might also have accidentally volunteered myself to take part in a Necromunda campaign. I should probably build one of the gangs I have, and get a copy of the rule books…

Got my first wave of Sororitas ordered. Two of each squad box, to fill out a battalion. I’ll pick up the Triumph once I’ve worked through the “core” and have enough for it to be a centrepiece, and not just a lone display piece surrounded by grey plastic. ⚜️

Managed to escape the festive period with only a 1.4 kilo gain. I’ll take it, given how "off the wagon" I fell! 😅

I regret to inform everyone in the #warmonger community that, despite the derpy appearance, the Citadel Spray Stick is actually really bloody good it what it’s supposed to do, and worth every penny. Believe me, I’m as shocked as you 🤯

I have new coffee to try tomorrow morning on my way to work, which I’m very excited by… and then I get to do it all again in the afternoon with *another* new blend specifically ground for the French press I was gifted at Christmas. ☕️ 😍

I know there’s an easy joke about “[haven’t] been paid since last year/decade”… but by heck does it really feel like it’s been that long already, and there’s still weeks to go.

I renewed my library card yesterday. Well, I say “renewed”… it had been so long that they couldn’t find me in the system and had to create a new account for me (which saved me the £2 fee for a replacement card). I used to go to the library almost every week as a kid, and I’m hoping to get back into the habit this year.

In the last few days at work (so, strecthing back to before the holidays) I’ve been setting up Jenkins and SonarQube. Now I just need to get them working together^. Eventually I want to get things to the point where something gets checked in to Subversion, SonarQube runs on the branch, and – assuming no defects raised by the scan – Jenkins creates a patch "build" for us. In the case of this particular project, that means an export of all the .sql files modified since the branch was created.

That’s all a while off. For now, I’d settle for just getting each tool doing their main thing in isolation.

^ Well, I do need another team to come back from holiday and give me the necessary SonarQube license key first, so I can get it looking at the code.

I swear that "Enterprise software" is just shorthand for "software that’s ridiculously convoluted to install, and fragile to configure."

Question for anyone who regularly airbrushes with acrylic inks like Daler Rowney’s FW range – what’s your preferred thinner to use with them? #warmongers #paintingwarhammer

One thing I appreciate about days like New Year’s Day or Christmas Day, is the tranquility. Everything seems to stop for a day, and you can go for a walk without hearing the rush of traffic, or the bustle of other people.

Theoretical recipe for when I paint Order of the Bloody Rose:

– Prime black.
– All over Incubi Darkness
– Initial zenithal of a mid-bone
– Airbrush highlight with off-white
– Reinforce edges with white
– Airbrush several layers of scarlet ink

Tomorrow I’m deleting my Facebook, Instagram, and Messenger accounts. Not going to lie, the FOMO is kicking in, but I’ve wanted to do this for years now, and I committed to doing so a month ago, so it’s time to go.

I’m about two-thirds of the way through The Witcher, and while I wouldn’t say I’m blown away by it, I have found it unexpectedly _interesting_ in a way I can’t put my finger on.

I finally fixed a few niggling issues with the "night mode" and mobile display of my website this evening. I had a few customisations in my child theme which didn’t play nice with the latest updates to Autonomie.

Just slept in until after 9am. For the first time in I-can’t-remember-how-long, so I guess I was tired?

Rise of Skywalker mini review: obvious and predictable fan service is obvious and predictable, yet still somehow effective at making me feel like an awed 12 year-old. It made me excited, emotional, want to laugh, and roll my eyes in equal measure.

Is it even Christmas if you don’t watch A Muppet Christmas Carol at least once?

Finished for the year; found the source of our time zone problems (vendor system config, not our app 👍); walking home to go put my feet up.

It’s like time zones were designed to completely mess with the Machine Spirits… and my hopes of a quiet last working day before some holidays!

Why did humans make dates and times so difficult for computers to understand? And in turn make the computer’s problems with date/times so difficult to debug and troubleshoot?

It’s my last day in the office this year. I’m pretty sure there’s going to be just me and the manager in, so – assuming no disasters – it should be quiet enough for me to hopefully deal with a couple of sysadmin-y jobs.

I got my new pair of boots. I might open a pool on how long the soles will last, before they are completely worn through. The previous pair lasted 94 days.
