I’ve been trying out NextDNS, mostly for the inbuilt DNS-level ad and tracker blocking (amongst other options), and it’s working pretty good so far. The only casualty seems to be my banking app, while I’m on my home WiFi… I assume it crashes out because it can’t connect to some analytics domain.

I’m putting together a Christmas playlist, to get me through working through to Christmas Eve. So far I’ve got a mix of 15 "Christmas hits"/Xmas No. 1’s, and a few "alternative" takes – but I’m looking for suggestions to fill the playlist further – let me know yours!

It feels like every Rise of Skywalker review I’ve read this morning – so far – basically vindicates The Last Jedi.

@macbeanscoffee is probably the best smelling shop in all of Aberdeen; went in for a bag of their Christmas Blend, and was greeted by a smell that was a mix of marzipan and fresh coffee grounds 🤩

I’m having a wierd issue where syndication isn’t triggered if I write a post through the WP admin panel. It only works if I create via Micropub clients. This happened before and after the upgrade to the latest Syndication Links plugin. One to ponder on and fix when I get the time.

I bought the Slaves to Darkness Battletome book on Saturday, but I’ve been so busy with Christmas-related jobs all weekend I’ve not had a chance to even open it yet.

I really need to get on and fix my daughter’s iPhone 7 screen. I’ve caught myself actively putting it off because it’s such a pain in the ass to remove components like the home button, speaker, etc, from the old screen to attach to the new one

The hardest thing about wrapping presents is remembering where you stashed them all beforehand…

In more positive news, my weight-loss seems to be back on track, after a slight "wobble" as I transitioned off of keto. Not 100% back to my lowest of a couple of weeks ago, but I’m heading back in the right direction and can enjoy all of the normal festive treats 👍

It’s going to be a very long day/next five years 😞

We have a new Polling place. How exciting!

Four of us in the office just found out we’re all doing the same Duolingo course on Scottish Gaelic.

So Merchoid refunded me for my GW Khorne-themed Xmas jumper, because they “oversold” it. Happy to have my money back, less happy about definitely having to find an alternative (that’s going to be nowhere near as fun)

I’m a bit hacked-off that my Khornate Xmas Jumper – which I ordered in November – still hasn’t shipped yet, and I’ve not had a response from Merchoid about it. It’s the office Xmas Jumper day tomorrow, so I’m going to have to go out and get an alternative this evening 😒

I watched the Wonder Woman ‘84 trailer, and 1) I’m in, 2) I now have Blue Monday lodged in my head.

You wouldn’t know there was a General Election happening, based on how little activity has happened in my area. We’ve had a single leaflet from each of Labour/Lib Dem/SNP/Scottish Greens/Br*x*t Party. By this point normally we’d have been doorstepped and inundated w/ leaflets

Today has been mostly about emailing customer service teams. Multiple Christmas gifts ordered in November are nowhere to be seen yet, my "Xmas Jumper" is MIA, and that’s just the "simple" stuff.

I’m trying to replace the screen on my kid’s iPhone 7, and holy heck is it turning into a saga. First I couldn’t pull the screen up to separate it from the body it was so badly shattered, and the adhesive wouldn’t come loose. (I ended up sticking a plastic spudger through a hole in the screen and levering it up from the inside) Then I wrecked my only Y000 screwdriver trying to unfasten the TouchID sensor. So now I’m going to have to wait until a new screwdriver arrives tomorrow to continue the repair, assuming the same fate doesn’t befall the new screwdriver.

Me: watches a trailer once, on the studio’s official channel.

YouTube: maybe you’d like to watch these 9 bajillion reposts of the same trailer, just with different watermarks??

I use the Linux ‘find’ command a lot, but nearly always need to look up the syntax. For some reason it just doesn’t stick in my mind.

Ugh. It’s been a long time since I felt *this* ill. I thought that time a couple of months ago was bad… this has been much worse 🤧

I’ve managed to cobble together a working Windows computer, using a junker, 11 year-old laptop (re)found in a cupboard some donor parts, and a bit of luck. I’m going to try to get a 1Password export through the desktop client, and attempt importing it to Bitwarden.

I’m so very tired today. Three accidental late nights in a row seems to be absolutely killer for me these days

I must have slept funny during the night, because my neck is very much not happy this morning. Not the best start to a long weekend.

The new swiping keyboard in iOS 13 is one of those *finally* moments… it’s literally the one thing I still missed about using Android.
