I’m putting together a Christmas playlist, to get me through working through to Christmas Eve. So far I’ve got a mix of 15 "Christmas hits"/Xmas No. 1’s, and a few "alternative" takes – but I’m looking for suggestions to fill the playlist further – let me know yours!
I hoard Christmas music like some lunatic.
The greatest Christmas album is ‘A Christmas Gift for You from Phil Spector’. It’s end to end wall to wall hits. His wall of sound was made for Christmas.
Other good albums:
– Aimee Mann – One More Drifter in the Snow
– Andy Williams – The Andy Williams Christmas Album
– Bob Dylan – Christmas in the Heart
– Ella Fitzgerald – Ella Wishes You a Swinging Christmas
– Loretta Lynn – The Christmas Collection
– Low – Christmas
– Nat King Cole – The Christmas Song
– Ray Charles – The Spirit of Christmas
– She & Him – Christmas Party
– She & Him – A Very She & Him Christmas
– The Rat Pack – Christmas With the Rat Pack
– Vince Guaraldi Trio – A Charlie Brown Christmas
Couple of songs that I don’t have on compliations:
– Laura Marling – Goodbye England (Covered in Snow)
– The Pretenders – 2000 Miles
Have you heard The National Jazz Trio Of Scotland’s Christmas Album. It’s full of beautiful and understated takes of traditional Christmas songs.
