This has reminded me just how much I used to love watching Tomorrow’s World as a kid. It’d be fun to look back and see just how many other TW predictions either came true, or were close.

One thing I appreciate about days like New Year’s Day or Christmas Day, is the tranquility. Everything seems to stop for a day, and you can go for a walk without hearing the rush of traffic, or the bustle of other people.

That’s it done – the “delete my account” process has been completed on all my Facebook-owned accounts. The FB account deletion won’t actually kick in for another 30 days or so, but Instagram should be gone already.

💬 Replied to: The Witcher’s success is held back by Netflix’s release strategy in a post-Game of Thrones world

“The Witcher’s success is being held back by Netflix’s binge-watching model”

(The Verge)

I’ve been pacing myself through The Witcher – 1-2 episodes a day – and it’s definitely felt a better experience than having a binge session. I suspect, if I wasn’t on holiday I’d be making time to watch it once a week, like "traditional" TV, as that’s all I’d fit in. Like The Verge, I think a release schedule like that would have worked very well for the show. It feels like The Witcher was made for it.

The way Netflix designs certain (most?) shows around the "dump it all at once for binge-watching" paradigm usually means I end up *not* watching those shows. They’re less enjoyable when stretched out to weekly-if-you’re-lucky viewing, when others have long since moved onto the next thing. There’s a pressure to watch it all *now* and I reflexively don’t use my leisure time for things that make me feel pressured.
