My partner played Roller Derby until late last year, and was heavily involved in it for several years. It was quite popular as an "alternative" sport a few years ago, particularly among women. The popularity of it seems to be on the wane again, after a high point 3-5 years ago. From what I gather, a lot has changed in how the sport is played in recent years.
