My local grocery store has started to sell its own-brand plant-based burgers. I really want to try them, but Iāll have to wait until Iām on an āoff ketoā cycle, as theyāre relatively high in carbs. Itās amazing and encouraging how quickly the newer plant-based āmeat alternativesā are becoming mainstream.
After work Iām going to try my hand at making some mini keto cheesecake bites. I ā¤ļø cheesecake.
Some of the trees across from my office window look like theyāre being blown horizontal by the wind, which is going to make the walking part of my trip to the dentist fun.
YouTubeās iOS app keeps showing me this same advert for a repugnant right-wing āpoliticalā group every time I open the app, despite me taking all of the possible steps to ask for it not to be shown:
- Blocked the source page in YouTube
- Repeatedly said I donāt want to see the ad
- Given feedback that the the ad is repetitive/inappropriate/not relevant on multiple occasions (it falls into all 3 categories IMO). It would be great if there was also an option to report as āmisleading,ā but alasā¦
Iām really at a loss as to what else I can do to stop having this shoved down my throat whenever I use the app. Thankfully ads donāt get shown in the tvOS app timeline, yet, so itās limited to my phone ā but Iām sure I read somewhere recently theyāre already testing some changes around showing ad units in the TV app.
This advert is pretty mild, even if it is scaremongering and misleading, but the next one YouTube decides I must see might not be.
The (metal) Sisters of Battle range has gone to āLast Chance to Buyā on the Games Workshop website. After 22 years itās the end of an era! Iām pretty sure I have everything I need, but maybe one or two more wouldnāt hurtā¦ š¤

This evening has mainly been waylaid by a migraine and neck pain. Normal service shall (should) resume tomorrow.
Iām starting to pull together a theme based on the changes I was thinking about a few days ago. Itās nothing āearth-shatteringā or revolutionary, but it fits where my mindset is right now.
I need to think carefully about how I handle Post Kinds, like Bookmarks and Likesā¦ these have had such divergent ways of formatting over the years that thereās probably no one-size-fits-all approach I can take. So far Iāve managed to keep everything IndieWeb-compatible too, with h-feed, h-entry, h-card, and other building-block microformats working more-or-less as they do now (as far as Iāve tested with X-Ray, Parse This, Indiewebify, etc).
Layout is being handled by Flexbox for the moment. This article has continued to be invaluable. I could/should switch to CSS Grid for the final version, but I havenāt yet. So far only the content has been worked on. I still need to figure out the header/footer/secondary information.
If I can get a good run at things, I should have the theme finished some time in November. October is unlikely, as my evenings are fully-booked until at least the 19th.
My partner made some āketo chocolate browniesā that have no sugar or flour and the like in them. Despite what youād think, they were actually pretty good ā the moisture and density were on point. The flavour was of very strong cocoa, verging on that of 90% chocolate, so theyāre not going to be to everyoneās taste. My partner didnāt like the results, but I did, so I guess that means more for me! š
Ericlaw has a nice write up about the history of the XSS filter. Unfortunately it doesnāt help me fix my ongoing woes (which Iām nearly convinced must be a false-positive), but it does give a few insights and context to the feature.
The new tenants in the office opposite ours have been building a single IKEA shelving unit for the last 3 hours. I considered offering my help as Iāve put together so many of them I can put together most standard IKEA units inside of an hour. But they seemed to be getting a bit heated, so I wonāt poke the bear.
Iām working on a legacy app which still needs to support IE11. Thereās one screen (a search window in a pop-up) which intermittently triggers the XSS filter, depending on values in the URL ā despite everything being encoded properly. When this happens the entire screen is prevented from drawing. Itās driving me mad, and to top it off, once it triggers it starts triggering on values which didnāt previously cause the XSS filter to fire.
Edit to add: turning off the XSS filter by setting the header is not allowed.
I see weāre in the part of the year where I scramble to find suitable days to use up the last of my Annual Leaveā¦
Apparently itās āCyber Security Awareness Month.ā To keep things simple, my top tips would be:
- Use a password manager. (I ā¤ļø 1Password)
- Turn on Two-Factor Authentication everywhere you can.
