That article takes me back… when I started my first IT job, it was at a place that had *dozens* of SGI workstations, and an SGI server, for oil reservoir simulations and processing geological models. One of my first jobs that summer was figuring out how their particular flavour of UNIX worked, so I could get them all backing up to SCSI-attached DAT drives overnight.
